VisaWriting ("Service"), operated by Shanow, is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. By using the Service, you consent to the practices described here.

Account Information: When you register, we collect your email address. If you sign in via Google, we receive your name and email from Google.

Visa Application Information: To generate your letter, you provide personal details including: full name, nationality, age, destination country, visa type, purpose of travel, employment and income information, travel history, and any additional context you submit. This information is used solely to generate your letter.

Payment Information: Payments are processed by DodoPayments. We receive confirmation of successful payment and a transaction reference. We do not store your card number, CVV, or banking details.

Technical Data: We may collect IP addresses, browser type, device information, and usage logs for security and performance purposes, processed by our hosting provider (Vercel).

Cookies: We use essential session cookies for authentication (NextAuth). See our Cookie Policy for details.

• To generate your visa cover letter, document checklist, and interview preparation materials
• To manage your account and process payments
• To send transactional emails (account confirmation, purchase receipts)
• To detect and prevent fraud and abuse
• To improve our AI models using anonymized, aggregated data
• To comply with legal obligations

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only with trusted service providers necessary to operate the Service:

• Google — Authentication (OAuth). Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
• DodoPayments — Payment processing. Receives email and transaction data.
• OpenRouter / Anthropic — AI processing. Your visa form inputs are sent to generate your letter. OpenRouter's data handling policies apply.
• Neon — Database hosting for account and credit data.
• Vercel — Application hosting and edge network.

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or to protect our rights or the safety of our users.

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Generated letter content is not permanently stored — it is generated on-demand and returned to you. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law (e.g., financial records for up to 7 years).

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
• Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format.
• Objection: Object to processing of your data for certain purposes.
• Withdrawal of consent: Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), UK, or Switzerland, the following applies:

Our legal basis for processing your data is: (a) performance of a contract (to provide the Service you requested); (b) legitimate interests (fraud prevention, service improvement); and (c) consent (where explicitly given).

You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (DPA).

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete personal information, the right to opt-out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell your data), and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights. The Service is not directed to individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a minor, please contact us at contact@shanow.com and we will delete it promptly.

We implement industry-standard security measures including SSL/TLS encryption for data in transit, secure database hosting with Neon, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security and are not liable for unauthorized access beyond our reasonable control.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of material changes via email or a prominent notice on the Service at least 14 days before changes take effect. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
